MPL-3643: Permissioned RWAs and Tokenized Securities On Solana

On September 29th, Metaplex unveiled MPL-3643, the standard for issuing and managing permissioned real-world assets and tokenized securities on Solana. Standard tokens can't verify investor identity, enforce eligibility, or manage transfer restrictions at the token level. MPL-3643 is designed to support issuer-defined transfer restrictions, lockup periods, and jurisdiction limits built into the asset itself and enforced programmatically, and lets investors reuse their verification across MPL-3643 issuers through trusted identity partners and the Solana Attestation Service. For issuers, this opens a way to bring regulated assets onchain to Solana. MPL-3643 supports both native tokenization, with the asset issued directly on Solana, and issuer-sponsored tokenization, where the company or fund behind an asset issues and controls the token itself rather than relying on a third-party wrapper.

Built on Token-2022, sRFC 37, and the Solana Attestation Service, MPL-3643 brings ERC-3643-equivalent functionality to Solana and is designed to stay composable with Solana DeFi, with Orca, Raydium, Meteora, Phantom, Solflare, and Jupiter named as early integration partners. The standard is in limited-access Alpha for issuers, tokenized securities venues, tokenization platforms, and developers, taking the RWA and tokenized securities R&D covered in recent round-ups from devnet to early access on Solana mainnet.

Introducing Vantage

On September 23rd, Metaplex introduced Vantage, the first fully modular trading terminal on Solana. Instead of a fixed interface, traders build their own workspace from blocks they can add, remove, resize, and arrange, bringing trading tools, token information, research, and market data into one place, with multiple dashboards for different strategies and workflows. Dedicated Markets and Portfolio views give a broader read on market activity, holdings, and performance.

Vantage is now in closed beta, with access expanding as Metaplex gathers trader feedback and adds new features. Vantage extends Metaplex from asset issuance into the trading layer of onchain markets, bringing creation, discovery, and trading closer together.

$MPLX Summary

Metaplex DAO

September's buybacks reached 3.0M $MPLX as $113k of August's protocol revenue went towards buybacks for the DAO (0.3% of the total supply / 0.6% of outstanding supply). Each month, 50% of prior month's protocol revenue is allocated to $MPLX buybacks for the DAO.

September protocol fees reached $196K USD (1,827 SOL), 50% of which will be used to buy back $MPLX for the DAO in October.

As of October 14th, the Metaplex DAO directly holds 314M $MPLX (31.4% of total supply) and has deployed an additional 21.7mm tokens (2.2% of total supply) as protocol owned liquidity (POL).

Metaplex Foundation

As of October 14th, Metaplex Foundation holds 207M $MPLX (20.7% of total supply) in treasury wallets, with an additional 8.7mm tokens (0.9% of total supply) deployed in passive Kamino LP positions.

Partnership and Community Highlights

Korea Blockchain Week 2026

Korea Blockchain Week arrived at the end of September with Metaplex as an official sponsor of KBW 2026, held September 29th to October 1st at Walkerhill in Seoul. On the Stable Stage, President of Metaplex Foundation USA, Mackenzie Hom, keynoted “Beyond Standard Tokens,” introducing MPL-3643 and making the case for shared standards that show where a tokenized asset's rights are anchored, who is eligible to hold the asset, and how redemption works.

Korea: Solana Ecosystem Day And Solana Summit

The day before KBW opened, Metaplex and Superteam Korea co-hosted Solana Ecosystem Day in Gangnam on September 28th. Mackenzie Hom opened with a keynote, followed by keynotes from Beezie and the Solana Foundation and two panels: Sanctum, Loopscale, and Rewardy Wallet, moderated by the Solana Foundation's Ramzy Ali; and Doma and Botanika, moderated by Head of BD & Partnerships, Clay Helms. On September 30th, Mackenzie Hom joined DoubleZero co-founder Austin Federa at Solana Summit Korea, hosted by Superteam Korea and Four Pillars, for the panel “Why Solana Doesn't Break: The Network Layer.”

Decipher Research On Metaplex

On September 8th, Decipher, the blockchain society at Seoul National University, published a research report on Metaplex, describing it as the “invisible powerhouse” of Solana's digital asset ecosystem. The report examined how Metaplex standards unify the way assets are formatted and their rights are recorded across Solana, as well as the permissioned-asset infrastructure Metaplex was then developing on devnet, ahead of MPL-3643's mainnet debut at the end of the month.

MPL-3643 Across The Solana Ecosystem

MPL-3643's debut drew attention across the Solana ecosystem. Solana described the standard as “permissioned, yet composable across Solana,” Raydium signaled that “new markets are coming to Solana,” and Ilan Gitter, Head of Ecosystem Engineering at the Solana Foundation, said MPL-3643 “assembles primitives on Solana into one standard.” The launch was picked up by Benzinga, Crypto Briefing, TechFlow and dozens of others and featured in Solana's September Ecosystem Roundup.

Collectibles Keep Climbing

Collectibles platforms built on Metaplex standards kept climbing in September. On September 23rd, a 1st Edition Shadowless Charizard sold for $825,000 on Collector Crypt, a week after another sold for $600,000, in what Collector Crypt called “the largest tokenized TCG sale in history. Again.” Beezie, whose claw-machine collectibles are minted with Metaplex Core, reached $2.2M in daily volume in the opening week of September and partnered with The Luxury Closet to bring authenticated handbags, watches, and jewelry onchain on Solana.

Ecosystem

September saw ecosystem partners welcome MPL-3643, collectibles platforms keep climbing, and Korea's Solana community gather around Metaplex during Korea Blockchain Week.

  • Raydium - Named a launch integration partner for MPL-3643 alongside Orca, Solflare, Jupiter, and Phantom, as permissioned assets come to Solana.

  • Solana Foundation - Welcomed MPL-3643 at launch, with Head of Ecosystem Engineering Ilan Gitter noting that “MPL-3643 assembles primitives on Solana into one standard,” and featured MPL-3643 and the Vantage beta waitlist in its September Ecosystem Roundup.

  • Collector Crypt - Recorded an $825,000 1st Edition Shadowless Charizard sale, which it called the largest tokenized TCG sale in history, continuing its run tokenizing graded cards as Metaplex assets.

  • Beezie - Partnered with The Luxury Closet to bring authenticated luxury goods onchain on Solana, after more than 1 million pulls across its claw machines, whose collectibles are minted with Metaplex Core.

  • Superteam Korea - Co-hosted Solana Ecosystem Day with Metaplex during Korea Blockchain Week, featuring Sanctum, Loopscale, Rewardy Wallet, Beezie, Doma, and Botanika.

  • Four Pillars - Co-hosted Solana Summit Korea with Superteam Korea, where Mackenzie Hom joined DoubleZero's Austin Federa on “Why Solana Doesn't Break: The Network Layer.”

  • Decipher - Published a Seoul National University blockchain society report calling Metaplex the “invisible standard” of Solana's digital asset ecosystem.
